Terms of Use
Last updated: May 2, 2026
By installing or using fygit (the "App") and the related fygit web service (the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use them.
The short version: we'll do our best to make fygit work; you'll use it for splitting bills among friends in good faith. We don't guarantee the math is correct in every edge case - always double-check the totals before paying. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled in iOS Settings.
1. Who runs fygit
fygit is operated by an independent developer ("we", "us") reachable at hello@fygit.app.
2. Your account
To use the App, you'll create an account (anonymously on first launch, or with Apple / Google / email). You're responsible for keeping it secure. You can delete your account at any time from the in-app profile screen, or by emailing us.
You must be at least 13 to use fygit.
3. What fygit does (and what it doesn't)
fygit lets you:
- Scan a paper or digital receipt and parse it into line items.
- Share a link to that bill with friends so they can claim items in their browser.
- Compute each person's share of tax + tip proportional to what they claimed.
- Hand off the right amount to a payment app like Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, or Apple Pay.
fygit does not handle the actual money transfer between you and your friends - that happens in the payment app you choose. We don't hold your funds, and we are not a money transmitter, payment processor, or financial institution. Any dispute about who owes what is between you and the people at your table.
4. Receipt accuracy
fygit uses Anthropic's Claude to parse receipts. Claude is accurate but not infallible - items can be misread, taxes can be mis-categorized, totals can drift by a penny or two. You are responsible for reviewing the parsed bill and correcting it before sharing or paying. We are not liable for any over- or under-payment caused by parser error.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use fygit for anything illegal or fraudulent.
- Upload receipts that don't belong to you, contain other people's payment card info you weren't authorized to share, or include sexually explicit, harassing, or threatening content.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source from the App or Service.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers, headless browsers) to interact with the Service.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute fygit or its output.
We can suspend or close any account that breaks these rules.
6. Subscriptions, free trial, and auto-renewal
fygit Pro is sold as an auto-renewing annual subscription through the Apple App Store. Current pricing:
- 7-day free trial, then
- US$14.99 per year (or local equivalent set by Apple), billed annually
How it works:
- The free trial starts when you tap to unlock and confirm with Apple. New subscribers only - one trial per Apple ID.
- If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your iTunes account is charged the annual price and the subscription auto-renews.
- It then renews each year at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- You can cancel any time from Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → fygit Pro → Cancel Subscription on your iPhone.
- Cancellation stops the next renewal; it does not refund the current period (but you keep Pro until the period ends).
Refund requests for the App Store are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't process refunds directly.
7. The App is licensed, not sold
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use fygit for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to the App Store terms and these terms.
fygit and all its contents (other than your bill data) are owned by us and protected by copyright. Don't copy, modify, or redistribute.
8. Apple-required EULA terms
The following terms are required by Apple for any app sold on the App Store. They apply only to the iOS version of fygit.
- This EULA is between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its contents.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you can notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- We are responsible for product claims, warranty claims, and intellectual-property claims, not Apple.
- You represent that you are not located in a US-embargoed country and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this EULA and may enforce it against you.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
fygit is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the parsed receipt data will be accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of fygit. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) US$50.
11. Termination
You can stop using fygit at any time and delete your account from the in-app settings. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the Service. We'll give reasonable notice if we shut the Service down and let you export your bill history.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Toronto, Ontario, unless you are a consumer entitled to a more favorable forum under your local law.
13. Changes
We may update these terms occasionally. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify you in the App. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
